HardtHaven Children's Home opened on May 28, 2007
in Kpando, Volta Region, Ghana. Since the opening of the Children's
Home, HardtHaven has transformed into a foundation with a focus
on vulnerable children and HIV/AIDS. In addition to the Children’s
Home, HardtHaven has a child sponsorship program for in-need children
in the community, and a rehabilitation program for severely malnourished
children.
HardtHaven is starting an AIDS/TB/Malaria prevention program and
a skills-training program for children in the programs and HIV+
adults in the community. It also plans to initiate alternative
livelihood projects such as raising grasscutters, snails, and
beekeeping to fund the Foundation's other projects.
Vision
The HardtHaven vision is the transformation of AIDS
orphans from hopeless, suffering victims into productive members
of their community with an exciting vision for a greater Ghana.
HardtHaven offers more than just food, clothing, and shelter;
it offers education, employment skills, and a loving home. The
ultimate aim is for the Children's Home to be self-supporting
as it begins implementing various alternative livelihood projects
and receives renewable support from people around the globe.
