About Delta Preparatory School
The Delta Preparatory School is a private school in Kpando
Village for elementary and middle school level children. The
children speak English well and study basic subjects such as
math, science, social studies, and English.
Volunteer Opportunities
The Delta Preparatory School is very short-staffed and welcomes volunteers with an interest in teaching at the school for a minimum of three weeks. As of early 2008, Delta Preparatory School had 680 student and 24 staff members. The average class size was between 45 and 50 students.
On a volunteer's first day, he or she meets with the school
Headmaster and/or Second Headmaster for orientation. Together
the volunteer and Headmaster plan the subjects the volunteer
will teach, and the volunteer is provided with a curriculum
book and all tools needed to create lesson plans. The Headmasters
of the Delta Preparatory School are very supportive of the volunteers
and are happy to provide guidance.
