Housing
Volunteers are hosted on the Ho Farms Project property in a
motel-type building with a courtyard. There are 9 double-occupancy
rooms and 6 single-occupancy rooms. All rooms have ceiling fans,
wooden wardrobes for clothing, and doors that lock from both
the inside and the outside.
Single-occupancy rooms have private toilets and showers; double-occupancy
rooms share toilets and showers. Water pressure can be an issue,
so volunteers should be prepared to bathe from a bucket in the
shower when necessary.
Meals
All meals are prepared on-site for volunteers by Joyce. Meals are taken in a large
dining hall type room near the volunteer accommodations.
Volunteers
who have special dietary needs or food allergies should note
their needs on their volunteer application so Village Volunteers
can notify the Ho Farms Project staff in advance.
Drinking Water
Bottled or sachet drinking water is provided for volunteers.
Electricity
There is electricity, however, there are frequent power cuts.
Volunteers are recommended to bring flashlights.
Internet Access
The nearest internet café is in Ho, approximately a 7-minute taxi ride
from the farm site.
Laundry
For $30 USD per month, a volunteer’s laundry (clothing and bed linens) can be done once a week. All volunteers are asked to launder their own undergarments.
