Letter from Gunadiish Nyavie

Welcome! Woezo! Akwaaba!

Hi Valued Volunteer,

My name is Gunadiish and I'm your In-Country Coordinator as well as your pick up guy and I have the pleasure to write to you to participate in a voluntary service in a peaceful country Ghana. A voluntary service you will always remember on your return home. The people you will be working with are courteous and friendly. They are ready to make your stay in Ghana a memorable one.

I'm a Ghanaian, born and raised here. I'm here to help you get adjusted to the very different socioeconomic and cultural set up. No matter how experienced or inexperienced you are in travelling, you gonna need me to be your mentor and your dependable one though I shall not be with you all the time. Don't feel nervous, and though you may, all that feeling will go when I meet you at the airport. I take great pleasure at welcoming people, guests like you, and making them feel at home, making their stay here in Ghana a successful one and a memorable one. In collaboration with Shana and Village Volunteers, we make your volunteering here a success and a great benefit to the projects and the villages that you will be working at. We value and acknowledge your work and your decision to come here to assist. Though sometimes it might not be all that easy because of the culture shock, I will help you get over it as quickly as possible and assist you in any way I can.

I am a UNIVERSALIST and have the belief that the whole world is one country with one human culture and all of us are citizens of that one country although there are though different races and traditions, with different social background and development. I believe we can live in unity through the philosophy of understanding, tolerance and respect for each other's ideology and culture and relinquishing the Principle of Selfish Pleasure whilst getting transformed with the Principle of Social Equality.

It is my passionate trust that your visit to Ghana will add value to your knowledge of people and also be a great help to the project and the village that you shall be working at.

There is a warm welcome "AKWAABA! WOEZOR!"” awaiting your arrival in Ghana at the Kotoka International Airport.

I'm looking forward to meeting you.

With great care and smiles,
Your own Gunadiish
BNK
