Udyogini's approach is based on a model of capacity building for women that differentiates between stages of
income generation, as women first take steps towards livelihood security, and then towards enterprise growth.
Udyogini's programs are consistent with this model, with services geared to different elements and stages of capacity
building for grassroots women (from the bottom-up), with a simultaneous thrust in market development for products and
services. The approach is strategic; a limited number of activities are thoroughly researched for scale and promoted.
V. Expansion and Outreach (Beyond area and district; more activities; larger numbers of women; links to
other NGOs, research institutions and technical training institutions)
IV. Ownership & Scale Up through Systems and Institutions (Business network/trade association in Udyogini's
clusters)
III. Enterprise Promotion and Incentives for Producers and Market Players (Enterprise activities in
the Self-Help Groups and their clusters plus helping small manufacturers/traders buying from/servicing clusters
grow in their business)
II. Creation of Grassroots Women Business Development Service Providers (Resource pool for training and enterprise promotion)
I. Enterprise Motivation and Management Awareness for Grassroots Women (Training and exposure)
