Volunteer Opportunities
Nepal is a country of breathtaking beauty, abundant wildlife, and fascinating traditional cultures. SADP-Nepal is a non-governmental organization (NGO) and a non-profit organization registered with the government of Nepal and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council of Nepal, working in the field of agriculture. SADP-Nepal also emphasizes the development of organic agriculture in Nepal.
SADP-Nepal's programs make a positive difference in the lives of the deprived society by providing volunteering opportunities to international volunteers. SADP-Nepal provides support to committed volunteers who have an understanding and respect for all races, religions and cultures and the organization aims to accommodate all interests, needs and budgets.
SADP-Nepal provides Nepali culture and training for foreign volunteers who wish to render their services to Nepal in the field of organic agriculture in the demonstration organic farm, Setivalley Integrated Organic Farm (SIOF), which is located northwest of Pokhara city, one of the main tourist destinations of the world.
In addition to opportunities in organic farming and forestry, SADP-Nepal also offers volunteers opportunities to be involved in education, health care, orphan care, and elderly services.
Volunteers can work in the local Tibetan refugee camp or at a nearby orphanage, the Nepal Ksihimoto
Orphanage School which cares for more than 125 children.
SADP-Nepal also offers volunteers the chance to make visits to surrounding villages for cultural exchange programs, as Nepal is widely rich in diverse culture. Nepali culture is distinctively friendly and open and volunteers are made to feel as though they are part of the family. They can enjoy traditional rural villages especially in Gurung community. Hot spring water baths will be an additional attraction during their visit. Also during this period, volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in local festivals and get an opportunity to exchange their own culture.
There are extra adventurous opportunities such as white water rafting in the Seti River beside the organization's farm and Annapurna trekking. A visit to the Royal Chitwan National Park and an elephant safari are other attractions (though these activities cost extra).
The volunteer program is available to individuals or to groups of up to 10 people at a time for the period of two weeks to three months. SADP-Nepal invites school groups, university students, adult groups and professional organizations who are interested in organic agriculture to create and run custom programs for cultural visits, service projects, volunteer works and internship works in SIOF and other places of the country.
With an extensive local network, experienced staff, and comprehensive information about all aspects of Nepal, SADP-Nepal's staff is able to develop extraordinary opportunities in any corner of Nepal.
Volunteers are welcome to join the program with their children, partners, or group of friends.
