Goals of Namunyak Maasai Welfare

Orphans Program
Placing orphan children from Maasailand in local boarding schools and to provide them with support and educational opportunities.

Organic Farming and Permaculture (see FAQ)
NMW strives to empower the pastoralist Maasai community to gain benefits from new farming techniques that are compatible with local ecosystems.

Health Care and HIV/AIDS Awareness
Helps families and individuals who are left behind by the scourge of AIDS, including widows, widowers, and orphaned children. NMW hopes to build a health-care clini to provide access to low-cost, local health-care facilities.

Micro-credit Facility (see FAQ)
Seeks to improve access to credit for those who have marketable skills and/or hope to start their own businesses, but have no collateral or access to credit. NMW targets disenfranchised members of the Maasai community, including women, young people, the unschooled, and the unemployed.

Water Program
NMW strives to provide all communities with access to safe, potable water.

Cultural Preservation
Campaign against cultural beliefs and practices which militate against improved health, (e.g. female genital mutilation) but at the same time encourage cultural beliefs & practices which promote improved health condition of the people. The focus here is to reach the people with health and related care in their cultural settings.

Resource Conservation and Alternative Energy Sources Education
NMW aims to create a clear link between conservation issues and personal/communal advancement through:

1) The maintaining of traditional ecosystems through the preservation of forests, including educating people about renewable energy sources such as solar energy, and helping them develop and implement alternative energy sources.
2) Reaching out to project partners in an effort to allow indigenous peoples to reap benefits from conservation issues. Goals include the fostering of greater community involvement in the management of local national parks and game reserves, and the associated eco-tourism industries.

Sincerest thanks are offered for your interest in volunteering to help Namunyak Maasai Welfare deliver these gifts.

Education
To build a school that incorporates the holistic development of the mental, spiritual, and physical aspects of the individual.
